The Pathway Modules
MODULE 1
Anatomy & Health
This module equips vocal coaches with a functional understanding of the anatomy of the vocal and breathing apparatus and how these systems interact in singing. Coaches will study the biomechanics of respiration and phonation, common vocal health challenges and pathologies, and early indicators of vocal misuse or injury. The module emphasizes safe, ethical coaching practices, including appropriate training modifications, referral boundaries, and evidence-informed strategies for working with singers returning from injury or extended vocal rest.
MODULE 2
Acoustic Voice Science
You’ll finish this module with a greater understanding of voice science, how harmonics and formants can influence the voice, and how to use this information to help a singer find optimum vocal choices.
MODULE 3
Artistry
You’ll finish this module with an understanding of how to respect and support a singer’s artistic choices. You will learn new ways to challenge them to develop their artistry whilst retaining their individual identity.
MODULE 4
Musicianship
This module equips vocal coaches with a practical foundation in musicianship, enabling them to confidently support singers’ musical growth alongside vocal technique. Coaches will develop tools to identify and address challenges in pitch, rhythm, and musical comprehension, while also learning to continue developing their own musicianship as they teach—staying effective, curious, and musically responsive as guides.
MODULE 5
Body & Mind
You'll finish this module with a greater understanding of how to support optimal mindset and performance in both singers and yourself as a teacher.
MODULE 6
Pedagogy
You'll finish this module with a greater understanding of a singer's individual needs on any given day and in the longer term, and how to build a class that meets those needs.
MODULE 6
Business
This module will help you consider what you want from your business, how to communicate who you are and what you are selling, and how to build a community hungry for your services.
Prerequisites for The Pathway Program:

5+ years of teaching experience

At least 15 hours of professional development in vocal coaching, with a solid foundational knowledge of teaching singing

Active Community membership with ViP, connecting you to a global network of coaches committed to high professional standards

- 27+ hours of on-demand online classes across 7 modules. Taught by a highly experienced and respected team of voice professionals

- 1 hour 1-1 Authorization Interview to progress to Vocology in Practice Authorized Instructor status
